Anna-prashan Sanskar

Anna means ‘food’ and Prasana mean ‘eating, feeding’ thus, this sanskara signifies the weaning of the child from the mother’s breast milk to solid food.

Milk is beneficial to the growth of the child but at some point, solid food, first as soft cereals is introduced to provide wholesome nutrition to the growing baby.

This ceremony is appropriately performed when the child is beginning to teethe.
